3.5 GW solar+4.5 GWh BESS project moves forward in the Philippines

The Philippines' energy regulator ERC has approved the application from the world’s largest solar-plus-battery project under construction to develop and operate its own transmission network. The MTerra Solar Project, developed by Terra Solar Philippines Inc. (TSPI), a wholly owned subsidiary of SP New Energy Corp, is a 3.5 GW solar power installation paired with a 4.5 GWh battery energy storage system (BESS). The project will be executed in two phases, and the first phase, which will feature approximately 2.5 GW of solar capacity alongside 3.3 GWh of BESS and the construction of a 500 kV transmission line to the Nagsaag-San Jose connection, is scheduled for completion in 2026.
