Zelestra Peru, a subsidiary of Spain's Zelestra, formerly Solarpack, has announced the full commercial operations at its 300 MWdc San Martín solar plant in Arequipa, in Peru. The project consists of 450,000 modules that will generate over 830 GWh/year of clean energy, enough to power more than 440,000 homes and preventing over 166 kt/year of CO2 emissions. The project has a long term PPA with Kallpa Generación
Zelestra specialises in the development, commercialisation, construction and operation of large-scale renewable energy projects with a portfolio of over 29 GW of carbon-free projects in 13 countries. The company has more than 7 GW of BESS and solar projects in its pipeline in Peru, Chile and Colombia, of which over 1.7 GW is already contracted with customers.
At the end of 2023, Peru had a total installed capacity of 15.8 GW, of which solar accounted for about 2%.
