A 200 MW solar project enters construction in Greece

The Greek conglomerate Mytilineos has started building a 200 MW solar project in Greece on behalf of the national power utility PPC. The €84m project is part the 230 MW Kozani solar complex in Western Macedonia, which includes two 15 MW units (whose construction was awarded to Mytilineos and GEK Terna), in addition to the 200 MW plant built by Mytilineos. Commissioning is scheduled in 2025 and the power plant is expected to generate 352 GWh/year of electricity.

Another large solar PV project (204 MW) led by Hellenic Petroleum (Helpe) is under development in Kozani. In November 2020, the German solar project developer Juwi launched the construction of the solar PV project in northern Greece for Hellenic Petroleum, which acquired the project in February 2020. In October 2020, Juwi had selected the Chinese company JinkoSolar to supply solar modules for the project.
