13 transmission line projects awarded through auction (Brazil)

Brazil's power regulator Aneel has awarded 13 transmission lines totalling 3,868 km in transmission auction 07/2012.

Abengoa Brazil received 3 of the 8 lots offered and was the winner of the auction. The first concession comprises four transmission lines covering 1,816 km and two electricity stations in the states of Tocantins, Piauí, Bahía and Maranhao; while the second concession involves the construction of a 286 kilometer transmission line and two substations in the states of Ceará, Paraíba and Río Grande do Norte. The third and final concession won by Abengoa consists of a single transmission line of 370 km between the Estreito and Itabirito 2 stations in the state of Minas Gerais.

Lot B, consisting of the Transmission Line Assisi - Paraguaçu Paulista II and II substation Paraguaçu Paulista (SP) was bought by Copel Generation and Transmission. A Lot H, composed of the transmission lines Rio Branco I - Feijó, Feijó - Cruising the South and the substations Feijó and Cruzeiro do Sul, located in the state of Acre, had no interested and therefore should come in the next contests to be performed by the Agency.

The new facilities will require investments of around R$4.3bn in 11 states (US$2.1bn).
