The Regional Directorate for Environmental Protection in Gdańsk (RDOŚ) has emitted a favourable environmental decision for Orlen’s 1 GW Baltic East offshore wind project in Poland (Orlen press release, 18/11/2025). The approval makes the project eligible to participate in Poland’s first offshore wind auction. The company is also “working to secure financing and obtain all the necessary permits” to connect the project to the Polish grid by 2032. The proposed project is expected to deliver enough energy to power more than 1.25 million households.
In June 2025, Poland’s Energy Regulatory Office (ERO) announced that its first auction for 4 GW offshore wind capacity would take place in December 2025. The competitive tender will offer 25-year contract for difference (CfDs) to the projects offering the most favourable energy sales prices.
