Enerdata, in a consortium with Innovation Energie Développement (IED Consult), has delivered the diagnostic reports and five-year action plans for 16 African Union Member States* to the African Energy Commission (AFREC). This initiative is part of the African Union's broader commitment to establishing and enhancing National and Regional Energy Information Systems (NEIS/REIS) across its membership.
These country-specific reports analyse institutional frameworks and governance to identify priority reforms, necessary investments, and capacity-building requirements. The ultimate goal is to develop modern, reliable, and harmonised energy statistics systems. To achieve this, Enerdata conducted extensive research and held interviews with local institutional representatives, enabling the consortium to develop tailored action plans for each State.
Through this project, Enerdata further strengthens its close partnership with AFREC—a collaboration initiated in 2019 - to improve energy statistics across all 55 African nations. We are proud to contribute to this ambitious programme, which empowers African countries to develop data-driven energy policies and promotes greater continental integration.
