Renewal of the research partnership between Enerdata and EDF R&D

See also

This contract establishes a research partnership between Enerdata and EDF R&D, focused on developing prospective scenarios and advancing methodologies to explore potential future outcomes for the European carbon market and energy systems. The partnership utilises the POLES-Enerdata model to explore, possible futures of the European carbon market and energy systems.

Various hypotheses are explored in this programme, specifically the ones concerning the European Union's policies and regulatory measures, the design of the EU ETS market, the operation of the Market Stability Reserve (MSR) and the inclusion of negative emissions.

New subjects will be studied with the next revision of the ETS market design, the implementation of ETS2 and its associated MSR, etc.

Evolutions of the model could be implemented to better represent the possible changes to the instruments used to monitor the decarbonisation of the European energy system.
