Development of the Walloon Energy Renovation Plan for Buildings to transpose the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive
The Walloon government has expressed its commitment to developing a renovation plan that complies with the requirements of the new European Directive on the Energy Performance of Buildings (Directive (EU) 2024/1275).
Enerdata supports the Public Service of Wallonia (Belgium region) in consortium with ICEDD for the evaluation of policies and measures on energy impact to comply with the reporting of Articles 5 and 7 of the European Energy Efficiency Directive. Under Article 7 of the EED, each member state should achieve at least 1.5% energy savings of their energy sales on average over 2014-2020. Therefore, the 2022 reporting is key to assess whether the objective has been achieved. Through Article 5, members states shall encourage public bodies to renovate 3% of the total floor area of their buildings, or to adopt alternative measures which will deliver the same amount of energy savings (case of Belgium).
