Enerdata announces its commitment to research on energy sufficiency and the resilience of energy systems by joining the sponsors of the Energy Sufficiency and Resilience Chair, supported by the University Grenoble Alpes Foundation (FUGA). This initiative is a continuation of Enerdata’s mission to provide data, analysis and forward-looking tools to support decision-making in response to the challenges of the energy transition and to help promote energy sufficiency practices among public and private stakeholders.
The Energy Sufficiency and Resilience Chair is based on an interdisciplinary approach combining engineering sciences, social sciences and humanities, and participatory sciences, in order to address the issues of energy consumption and energy system resilience in all their complexity.
The Chair’s work aims in particular to improve understanding of how behaviours, organisations and technologies can help mobilise energy sufficiency and demand flexibility. Its ambition is to identify and demonstrate the potential for reducing energy consumption through energy-sufficient behaviours, while strengthening the resilience of energy networks in the face of climate and geopolitical challenges.
Enerdata’s contribution
As part of this partnership, Enerdata will make its energy databases available to the Chair, together with its recognised expertise in energy system analysis and long-term modelling. Enerdata’s teams will collaborate with researchers to contribute to the generation of knowledge and its dissemination among public and private stakeholders.
This contribution will pursue several objectives:
- Linking national energy challenges with local realities;
- Contributing to research projects and scientific publications;
- Sharing Enerdata’s expertise on energy system transformation and transition pathways.
By joining the Chair’s sponsors, Enerdata reaffirms its commitment to contributing to the development of solutions based on scientific knowledge to support the energy transition and strengthen national resilience.
Following the signing of the sponsorship agreement in June, representatives from the University Grenoble Alpes Foundation and Frédéric Wurtz, Director of G2Elab and co-lead of the Chair, visited Enerdata to present the Chair’s ambitions and the scope of the studies to which our teams will contribute as part of this partnership. The meeting also provided an opportunity for more informal discussions over lunch and helped strengthen ties between the research teams and Enerdata’s experts.
