A global energy company is actively transitioning to a low-carbon business model in line with the energy transition. In this context, and given its global presence and impact, the group is preparing its energy system scenarios with Enerdata’s help. This will enable the company to generate long-term energy and GHG emission scenarios and targets at both a global and country level, helping it align its corporate strategy with an evolving global environment.
To achieve this objective, the energy and fuels specialist group needs to operate its own world energy system model, capable of simulating the entire energy value chain in detail. It includes various energy carriers and fuels, a comprehensive range of countries and regions, and explicit representation of individual sectors.
Enerdata’s proposed approach addresses these requirements by providing a granular view of final and primary energy demand, detailed energy supply and fuel products, as well as the associated long-term evolution of GHG emissions at global, national and sectoral levels.
Enerdata designs a model, inspired by its POLES-Enerdata structure, which offers a holistic and consistent representation of the global energy system up to 2050. It will include a user-friendly interface to easily adjust key assumptions and parameters and to visualise the corresponding results.
The multi-year project includes in-depth training and long-run modelling support. Enerdata will also integrate the EnerFuture scenario data into the model. The company’s modellers will receive continuous support throughout the project to ensure the model is used effectively. The project also includes yearly data and model updates, and new developments.
