The Russian state-run gas giant Gazprom exported an all-time high record of 194.4 bcm of gas to Europe and Turkey in 2017, which is 9% higher than in 2016 (178 bcm) and approximately 1.9 times more than 25 years ago, when the company was founded. Over the 2014-2017 period alone, the group's exports grew by nearly a third while the European domestic gas production was steadily declining.
The company is the world's leader in terms of natural gas reserves and production and also in terms of length and capacity of gas transportation system: the aggregate capacity of the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines reaches 110 bcm/year, while the Ukhta-Torzhok and Ukhta-Torzhok pipelines have an aggregate capacity of 90 bcm/year and the Bovanenkovo-Ukhta and Bovanenkovo-Ukhta 2 pipelines reach 115 bcm/year.
Gazprom's Russian underground gas storage maximum daily deliverability in Russia has grown by 30% over the last seven years - it doubled in 25 years - and reached 805.3 mcm/d in 2017. Working gas storage capacity stood at 72.2 bcm in the 2017–2018 withdrawal season.
Gazprom also has oil production and power generation activities. The group's oil production has also significantly risen and produced nearly 41 Mt of oil in 2017 (40 times more than 25 years ago). Since 2007, Gazprom has commissioned 8.5 GW of power plants, raising its total installed capacity to 39 GW in 2017.
