South Carolina regulator approves SCANA-Dominion Energy merger (US)

The Public Service Commission of South Carolina (SCPSC) has cleared the takeover of SCANA by the US energy utility Dominion Energy, with conditions to be outlined later as part of a written order that is to be issued by the end of December 2018. Besides, it has also approved Dominion Energy's latest customer benefits plan. Dominion Energy has received all the other required regulatory approvals and now only awaits the SCPSC final written order prior to closing the merger.

The combined company will carry out operations in 18 states from Connecticut to California. It will have an installed power capacity of 33,000 MW and will operate 93,600 miles (150 600 km) of power transmission and distribution lines along with 106,400 miles (171,200 km) of gas pipelines and 1 Tcf (28 bcm) of gas storage capacity. Besides, the new company will also deliver energy to approximately 6.5 million regulated customer accounts in eight US states.
