Veresen acquires 50% of 15 bcm/year gas pipeline in north-western US

Veresen, the developer of the 6 Mt/year Jordan Cove LNG gas liquefaction project in Oregon (United States), has entered into an agreement with Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP) to acquire GIP's 50% interest in the Ruby gas pipeline for US$1.425bn; Kinder Morgan owns the remaining 50% of the pipeline. The 680 km (1,094 km) gas pipeline has a capacity of 1.5 bcf/d (15.45 bcm/year), with potential expansion to 2 bcf/d (20.6 bcm/year). It stretches from the Opal Hub in Wyoming to the Malin Hub in Oregon, where it will interconnect the proposed Pacific Connector Gas Pipeline (50% owned by Veresen) that will supply Veresen's Jordan Cove LNG project to be commissioned in 2019. This transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2014.
