Eni will operate on the Belgian retail market under its own brand

Eni, as of 1 November, will sell natural gas and power through the Eni brand to retail and business clients in the Belgian market. Since the acquisition of Distrigas in 2008, Eni has been the largest supplier for business clients in the Belgian gas market. At the beginning of 2012, Eni acquired Nuon Belgium, which is active in both the retail and the business market segment. These acquisitions represent Eni’s largest investment in the sale of gas and power outside its home market in Italy to date. The group currently serves 600,000 customers in Belgium and aims to reach 1 million by 2016, approximately 12% of the retail market. As of 1 November, Nuon Belgium and Distrigas will merge under the Eni brand.

Eni announced, earlier in October, it plans to sell natural gas through its brand to retail clients of the French market, with the target of becoming one of the major players in this market segment in the country.
