UK's Ofgem publishes Decarbonisation Action Plan by 2030

The British energy regulator Ofgem has launched its Decarbonisation Action Plan, which sets out nine actions to ensure energy networks are ready to deliver net zero emissions and to decarbonise heat and transports. In the heat sector, the Ofgem will work on using hydrogen boilers or electricity to power heat pumps and on connecting more consumers to heat network. The Decarbonisation Action Plan also aims at building an energy system supporting the growth of renewable energies and 10 million electric vehicles by 2030. Ofgem plans to publish an Electric Vehicle Strategy paving the way for a power grid where electric vehicle owners could sell electricity back to the network during peak hours. The Action Plan will seek to support the development of an offshore grid to enable a four-fold increase in offshore wind generation by 2030 and will create an innovation fund to unlock investment in innovative solutions to tackle climate change.
