Shell and Gerdau plan a 190 MW solar plant in Minas Gerais (Brazil)
Shell Brasil and the Brazilian steel group Gerdau have signed a cooperation agreement for the development of a 190 MW solar plant in the municipality of Brasilândia de Minas, north of Minas Gerais (Brazil). The Aquarii power plant will Gerdau's steel production units and the rest will be sold on the free market through Shell's energy trading company, as of 2024.
Brazil's solar capacity almost doubled in 2019 and increased by more than 70% in 2020 reaching 7.7 GW.
