Petrobangla has received 12 EoIs for Bangladesh LNG onshore project
Bangladesh oil and gas company Petrobangla has received Expressions of Interest (EoIs) from 12 companies for the construction of the country's first onshore LNG import and regasification terminal at Matarbari in the Cox's Bazar district, in southern Bangladesh. A joint venture of Qatar Petroleum and ExxonMobil expressed its interest, along with subsidiaries of Shell, Total, Samsung, Poly-GCL Petroleum Group Holdings and Japanese trading houses. The selection process could take more than a year to complete.
The project would have a regasification capacity of 7.5 Mt/year (10 bcm/year) and would be built on a build-own-operate (BOO) basis for 20 years.
