Kyushu Electric joins study on small-scale FLNG project in Australia
Japanese power utility Kyushu Electric will take part to a project led by Transborders Energy, TechnipFMX and Add Energy, on small-scale floating LNG (FLNG) to tap gas resources from remote gas fields off Australia. The consortium would focus on gas fields with reserves between 500 bcf and 2 tcf (14-57 bcm) and would develop a small-scale FLNG facility to produce first LNG in mid-2026 at the earliest. Total investment is estimated at A$1.6bn (US$1.1bn).
