India’s SJVN launches tender for 6 GW of renewable capacity with storage

The Indian Government has announced the launch of a tender for the procurement of 6 GW of renewable capacity with battery energy storage systems (BESS), which will be managed by the state-owned power company SJVN. The company notably seeks power from an inter-state transmission system that carries power across the country.

India plans to connect 35 GW of solar and wind energy capacity to its grid during the fiscal year 2024-2025, and plans to eventually increase its non-fossil fuel capacity to 500 GW. At the end of 2023, solar and wind accounted for nearly 24% of installed capacity in India, with respectively 73 GW and 45 GW.
