The US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has authorised the US company Cheniere to introduce natural gas into its Corpus Christi LNG Stage 3 expansion project, located in the US State of Texas.
The Corpus Christi Stage 3 liquefaction project is comprised of seven midscale gas-processing units with an expected capacity of approximately 10 Mt/year of LNG. Cheniere plans to produce first LNG at the site before the end of 2024.
As of end-2023, at the national level the US had an LNG liquefaction capacity standing at nearly 78 Mt/year, and a regasification capacity standing at 131.5 Mt/year. The country exported more than 91 Mt of LNG in 2023.
