ACWA commissions the 445 MW Salalah-2 CCGT power project (Oman)

The consortium comprising the Saudi energy company ACWA Power, Mitsui and Dhofar International Development and Investment (DIDIC) commissioned the 445 MW Salalah gas-fired CCGT power plant in the Salalah Industrial Area (Raysut, Dhofar Governorate, Oman). It will have a life cycle of 30 years and include four gas turbines and heat recovery systems and two steam turbines. Mitsui will operate the power plant and sell the produced electricity to Oman Power and Water Procurement Company (OPWP) as per a 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA).

The OMR2.32bn (US$620m) project is owned by ACWA (45%), Mitsui (45%) and DIDIC (10%) and will raise the capacity of the existing Salalah plant (273 MW) to 718 MW.
