The US remained the largest gas producer in 2014

According to the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) estimates, the United States remained the largest hydrocarbon producers in 2014, followed by Russia and Saudi Arabia. Since 2008, the US oil production has increased steadily, from about 8 mboe/d in 2008 to 14 mboe/d in 2014 (+1.6 mboe/d in 2014 despite the 50% fall in global oil prices). In the past five years, US gas production increased by 13.9 bcf/d (390 mcm/d).

Total hydrocarbon productions were roughly equivalent in the US and Russia in 2011 but Russia's output remained broadly stable; in 2014, Russian oil production continued to increase but gas production declined in a context of weak economic growth and mild winter in Europe, its main export market. Saudi Arabia's hydrocarbon production remained stable in 2014 despite the fall in oil prices and the global glut. With the increase in the US production, the US produced nearly twice the hydrocarbons as produced by Saudi Arabia in 2014.
