Tiguentourine gas project (Algeria) expects full regime by year-end

The joint-venture of Algeria's national oil and gas production group Sonatrach, BP and Statoil operating the Tiguentourine gas production complex in the In Amenas wilaya in Algeria expects to reach full production level by the end of the year.

Production was interrupted in January after a terrorist attack (40 deaths and destruction of installations) in January 2013. Production resumed in September 2014 and is ramping up, though remaining below its full production capacity, as the third train of the gas complex remains shut. Operations at this third train are expected to restart before the end of the year, raising gas production by 2-3 mcm/d in a first time and by 9 mcm/d later. Overall, it will raise gas production at Tiguentourine from around 16 mcm/d to 24 mcm/d.

Before the attack, the In Amenas complex accounted for 18% of hydrocarbon exports in Algeria. Total production should rise to 9 bcm/year as of 2017, from around 5.3 bcm/year of gas, 550 kt of LPG and 615 kt of condensate today.
