Denmark and Vattenfall sign agreement on 950 MW offshore wind projects

The Ministry for Energy, Utilities and Climate of Denmark and Swedish power utility Vattenfall have signed the concession agreements for the offshore wind project Kriegers Flak and the near shore wind parks Vesterhav Nord and Vesterhav Syd.

In September 2016, the group won the Danish Near Shore Wind tender to build two offshore wind parks with a total capacity of 350 MW. The company submitted the lowest bid (DKK 0.475/kWh, €64/MWh) for the two sites Vesterhav Syd (180 MW) and Vesterhav Nord (170 MW). In November 2016, the group also won the tender to build Danish Kriegers Flak, a 600 MW offshore wind project in the Baltic Sea, with a bid of €49.9/MWh (among the lowest costs in the world for offshore wind power).

Vattenfall plans to invest €1.1-1.3bn in the Kriegers Flak project and €740m in the North Sea North and North South projects. Commissioning is expected in 2020-2021.
