Cameron LNG project gets additional non-FTA export authorisation (US)

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has allowed Cameron LNG to export an additional 1.41 bcf/d (14.5 bcm/year, i.e. 10.75 Mt/year) of LNG from its proposed Louisiana liquefaction expansion project to countries that do not have a free-trade agreement with the United States. With this order, Cameron LNG’s export capacity will be 24.92 Mt/year.

In May 2016, the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) granted its approval to the expansion of the Cameron LNG export terminal project on the Calcasieu Ship Channel in Cameron and Calcasieu Parishes, in Louisiana. Cameron LNG is a joint venture of Sempra (50.2%), Engie, Mitsui and Mitsubishi (16.6% each). The company is building three 4 Mt/year liquefaction trains on the site of its existing 11.4 Mt/year (15.5 bcm/year) Cameron LNG regasification terminal, which are expected to start operations in 2018 with full operation in 2019. The two additional trains of 5 Mt/year will raise Cameron's LNG total liquefaction capacity to 22 Mt/year as of late 2019.
