Highlights on GDF SUEZ

GDF SUEZ results from the merger between Gaz de France (GDF) and the SUEZ Group, completed in July 2008. GDF used to be the legal monopoly for gas activity in France. The operation was approved by the European Commission under conditions, notably the sale of SUEZ's stake in Distrigas and GDF's stake in SPE. The Group is active along the entire energy value chain in both electricity and gas. It holds strong positions in France and Belgium. In France, it represents respectively 85% and 88% of the gas sales to business customers and to the retail customers. The Group is also developing activities in the electricity sector. The Electrabel's activities have been integrated in the Group and are mainly managed within the Energy Europe & International business unit (Benelux - Germany Division). In Europe, GDF SUEZ operates the largest transmission and distribution network, is the 3rd largest storage operator, the 2nd largest operator of LNG terminals and a significant E&P player in the region. In the power sector, the Group is the 5th largest producer and 5th largest marketer in Europe. It is also the largest independent power producer in Brazil and the Gulf countries, 2nd largest in Peru and Panama, and 3rd largest in Thailand.
